It's been another eventful month at The Mehadi Foundation. We've had a few terrific fundraising events and also some great opportunities to fulfill our mission statement. Firstly, we must offer our warmest, most heartfelt thanks to Jeanette Bokland and Linda Rutzebeck of Orlando, FL. These two awesome ladies put together a Mehadi Foundation fundraiser entitled "Tapas, Wine, and Champagne." Around 45 guests showed up for plenty of good food and drink, a silent auction, a screening of "Semper Fi," and oh yes... karaoke. All told, they raised just over $2,000.

This December 14th-16th, Mehadi Founder Jeff Key will be leading a Vets4Vets workshop in Birmingham, AL. Vets4Vets is a non-partisan veterans' peer support organization dedicated to helping Iraq and Afghanistan veterans feel good about themselves and heal from any negative aspects of service and war. These weekend workshops allow veterans to take equal and uninterrupted turns sharing their experiences and expressing their feelings in a truly confidential setting. Furthermore, participants are encouraged to take part in positive community action, of their choosing, that empowers them to reach out to other veterans. (text from www.vets4vets.us)

These workshops take place every couple weeks and are available to any veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflict. There is no cost to participants; airfare, lodging, and food are paid for. Because of the ongoing generosity of all our donors, we are able to sponsor the Birmingham retreat. All participant food costs will be borne by The Mehadi Foundation.
