Helping Civilians Rebuild
Research shows that by and large Vietnam vets who were able to heal faster and most successfully from the traumas that resulted from their war experiences did things to help Vietnamese civilians in the war-torn country.
Although The Mehadi Foundation has helped Iraqi and Afghan civilians with concrete services such as water purification and procuring wheelchairs, we believe that for veterans' help to be most effective they need to be able to pinpoint for themselves what the acute needs of Iraqi and Afghan civilians' are. The Foundation, therefore, is seeking funds with which to create a program whereby veterans are able to get involved in helping Iraqi & Afghan civilians rebuild their communities. Through this program, veterans would be able to return to Iraq and/or Afghanistan with an interpreter to find out what civilians need in order to provide the most essential assistance.
You can help veterans and civilians rebuild by making a tax-deductible donation.
